Osaki Electric Co., Ltd. (Tokyo) announced that it has signed and submitted a commitment letter to the SBTi (SBT initiative) *1, as the first step in gaining certification of SBTs (science-based targets) *2 for the near-term target.
OSAKI Group provides products and solutions that contribute to the efficiency and stability of energy use, with a focus on smart meters, its mainstay products. Osaki Electric is also promoting the development of new solutions for societal goals like achieving decarbonization.
OSAKI Group set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of Scope1 and 2 by 46% (compared to fiscal 2013) by fiscal 2030.
OSAKI Group will work to reduce the environmental impact of the entire supply chain by formulating reduction targets, including Scope3, within two years.
*1 SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative)
The SBTi is a corporate action NGO that works in partnership with CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
*2 SBTs (science-based targets)
science-based targets are greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets that are in line with the Paris Agreement. Near-term SBTs require companies to set 5-10 year emission reduction targets.
