・ EDMI Limited (Head Office: Singapore; Group CEO: Roy Kirsopp)
Ⅰ. Overview of the Orders
①Order Value:
In excess of JPY 55 billion
(aggregate planned sales over five years to multiple customers)
②Products and Services:
Supply of EDMI-manufactured smart meters and solutions that enable the measurement, monitoring, and control of electricity usage
③Customers:
Not disclosed due to confidentiality obligations
Ⅱ. Background of the Contracts
- In the Oceania region, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, the increasing adoption of renewable energy and distributed power sources has made power grid operations more complex. As a result, demand for real-time data analysis and flexible control of electricity networks has grown significantly.
- In line with this, the Australian government has announced policies to accelerate the rollout of smart meters by 2030, and demand for smart meters is expected to expand steadily in Australia.
- In New Zealand, the full-scale deployment of smart meters began in 2008, and the installation rate has reached nearly 100%. Going forward, stable demand is expected both from new installations driven by population growth and from the replacement of existing meters.
- EDMI has supplied smart meters and related services for more than 35 years to multiple customers in the Oceania region, including electric utilities and metering coordinators*, establishing strong and long-standing customer relationships.
*Metering cooridnators: entities that install meters and provide electricity usage data to electric utilities. - To address the expanding demand for smart meters and the need for advanced and secure system infrastructure, EDMI has developed the next-generation smart meter “NEOS” and the solution platform “NEOS Solution,” and began taking orders in the region in July 2025.
- The major orders announced here were secured as a result of EDMI’s extensive delivery track record in the Oceania region, its high quality and reliability, and strong customer expectations for “NEOS” and “NEOS Solution,” which offer new value to the metering business.
- Through these contracts, EDMI will promote the expansion of its solution business centered on “NEOS,” contributing to real-time visibility of electricity usage and more efficient operation of power grids across the Oceania region.

Consolidated revenue from the Company’s Smart meters & solutions overseas business for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025 amounted to JPY 41.72 billion.
Ⅲ. Overview of the NEOS Solution
(1) Next-Generation Smart Meter “NEOS”
- While previous smart meter models have been developed with specifications tailored to individual countries and regions in small production volumes, “NEOS” is based on a common design platform and is offered in multiple models. It is positioned as a global strategic model with potential deployment beyond the Oceania region.
- “NEOS” supports the addition of optional devices in response to future needs, enabling functional expansion while continuing to utilize already installed smart meters.
- Equipped with edge intelligence functionality*, “NEOS” is capable of analyzing measurement data independently without waiting for control commands from upper-level systems.
- “NEOS” supports communication via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, enabling seamless connectivity with utility applications used for smart meter installation and maintenance, as well as with home energy management systems (HEMS) that allow consumers to check their electricity usage.
*Edge intelligence functionality: A technology that performs specific data processing and analysis directly on network‑connected devices (in this case, smart meters)
■Next-Generation Smart Meter “NEOS”
(2) Solution Platform “NEOS Solution”
<System Conceptual Diagram of EDMI’s “NEOS Solution”>
- “NEOS Solution” consists of the next-generation smart meter “NEOS,” equipped with edge intelligence functionality, and “Storm” Energy Cloud Intelligence Platform.
- The platform enables the measurement, monitoring, and control of electricity usage across a wide range of applications, including residential, commercial and industrial sectors, as well as entire electricity supply networks.
Feature 1: High-Frequency, High-Accuracy Measurement
- “NEOS” supports higher measurement frequencies and is capable of capturing data at intervals of less than one second. This highly detailed data forms the foundation of “NEOS Solution.”
Feature 2: Real-Time Monitoring
- “NEOS” supports high-speed data communication using mobile networks.
- This enables electric utilities and electricity metering service providers to monitor electricity usage and detect abnormalities in real time through Energy Cloud Intelligence Platform.
Feature 3: Rapid and Autonomous Control
- Energy Cloud Intelligence Platform supports complex control operations, which “NEOS” executes in real time.
- In addition to monitoring household electricity usage, the system autonomously monitors distributed energy resources such as solar power generation and performs control functions, including temporary adjustments to electricity consumption.
